Ask your stand contractor to use green options in their designs - think solvent free paints, FSC certified timber, recycled cardboard or plastics, polyethylene boards, cellulose fabrics, etc
Also make sure you have considered the life cycle of the stand materials - what happens when the event is over?

Vinyl is much harder to recycle. Bamboo is an alternative to vinyl but the use of alternatives can be tricky in terms of budget and build time constraints.
